The Family Behind MEGALS
Local ownership and a name that has stood the test of time
MEGALS has been a trusted name in East Gippsland for decades. Founded by John McAuley, MEGALS is an acronym for McAuley's Electrical Gas and Lighting Shop. A name that lives on today in the MEGALS brand.
In 2003, Bruce and Adrienne Hall purchased the business from John and continued to build on its strong reputation for quality workmanship, reliable service, and community involvement. Under their leadership, MEGALS grew into one of the region's most respected trade service providers.
In 2020, the Despard family proudly took ownership of MEGALS, continuing the tradition of local ownership and customer-focused service. Today, while the business has expanded to offer electrical, air conditioning, plumbing, gasfitting, and a retail store, the values established by John McAuley remain at the heart of everything we do.
More than a business, MEGALS is a part of the East Gippsland community, and we're proud to continue serving the region for generations to come.
